Control

Control is one of the things we spend so much of our lives trying to hold onto. We want to know how things will turn out, who will stay, who will leave, when the money will come, when the opportunity will appear, and whether the choices we make today will lead us somewhere better tomorrow. But life has a way of reminding us that control is often an illusion. We can control our decisions, but not always their outcomes. We can love someone deeply, but we cannot control whether they love us in the same way. We can prepare ourselves for an opportunity, but we cannot control whether the door will open. We can do everything right and still experience disappointment. Perhaps the real lesson is not learning how to control everything, but learning what deserves our control. We should control how we respond. We should control the boundaries we set. We should control what we allow to consume our peace. We should control whether we keep returning to places that continually hurt us. Everyth...

The Patterns We Keep Repeating

There is something powerful about paying attention to patterns. Not everything that happens in our lives is a coincidence. Sometimes, what we call bad luck is actually a pattern we have not yet recognized. Sometimes, the same kind of person keeps appearing in different faces. The same disappointment comes wrapped in a different story. The same emotional wound gets reopened in a different relationship. And until we stop and look closely, we may keep asking, “Why does this always happen to me?” Patterns are often subtle. They don’t always announce themselves. They reveal themselves through repetition. You may notice that you keep choosing people who make you question your worth. You may notice that you keep abandoning yourself to keep others comfortable. You may notice that you keep postponing the things that matter to you because you are waiting for the perfect time. At some point, the question changes from “Why does this keep happening?” to “What am I participating in that keeps ...

Timing

There are things in life we think we missed. The opportunity we didn’t take. The person we met too late. The door that closed before we were ready to walk through it. For a long time, I thought timing was about being early or late. But perhaps it is more complicated than that. Sometimes, you can have the right opportunity but be the wrong version of yourself to receive it. Sometimes you meet the right person when you are still learning how to love yourself. Sometimes you arrive at a place before you understand why you needed to be there. And sometimes, nothing happens, not because you failed, but because you are still becoming. I have learned that life does not always move according to the schedule we create for ourselves. We rush because we are afraid of being left behind. We compare our lives to people who seem to have arrived before us. We wonder why their lives are moving while ours appears to be standing still. But standing still is not always stagnation. Sometimes, it i...

Sometimes, Your Path Is What You Keep Returning To

Sometimes, your path isn’t something you suddenly discover. It is something you keep returning to naturally. You may spend years trying different things, becoming different versions of yourself, following opportunities, making mistakes, starting over, and wondering what you are truly meant to do. You may think your purpose is supposed to arrive like a revelation, one defining moment when everything becomes clear. But sometimes, it doesn’t happen that way. Sometimes, your path has been quietly following you all along. It is the thing you keep coming back to, even after you have walked away from it. The thing that continues to call your attention when life gets noisy. The thing you do without being forced. The thing that makes you lose track of time. The thing you may dismiss as “just something I love” until you realize how deeply it keeps showing up in your life. You can ignore it. You can postpone it. You can convince yourself that it isn’t practical. You can try to become someth...

I Am a Grown Woman, But I Am Also a Growing Woman

I am a grown woman. I have lived enough life to know that not everything deserves my reaction, not everyone deserves access to me, and not every battle is mine to fight. I have learned to make decisions for myself. I have learned to walk away. I have learned to say no without explaining myself a hundred times. I have learned that peace is sometimes more valuable than being understood. But being grown does not mean I have figured everything out. I am also a growing woman. There are still parts of me I am discovering. Parts of me I am healing. Parts of me I am learning to love without judgment. Some days, I am confident. Other days, I question myself. Some days, I know exactly where I am going. Other days, I am simply taking the next step and trusting that the road will reveal itself. And I think that is the beauty of becoming. We are allowed to outgrow the woman we once were. We are allowed to change our minds. We are allowed to admit that something we once wanted no longer...

Every Scar Becomes a Lesson, Every Loss Becomes a Way

There are things in life we never would have chosen for ourselves. The heartbreak. The betrayal. The goodbye we weren’t ready for. The seasons when we had to start all over again. At the time, we call them losses. We call them failures. We ask ourselves why we had to go through them, why something we loved had to end, why life had to hurt us in ways we never imagined. But sometimes, what feels like the end is simply life redirecting us. Every scar becomes a lesson. Not because the pain was necessary, or because what happened to us was deserved, but because we have the power to decide what the pain will mean. A scar is proof that something wounded you,and that you survived it. You may never forget how it happened. You may still remember the person, the place, the words, or the moment that broke something inside you. But with time, you begin to realize that remembering does not mean remaining there. You can carry the scar without carrying the pain. And every loss b...
