Slave to Opinion
There is a quiet prison many people live in without realizing it, the prison of other people’s opinions.
Being a slave to opinion means allowing the thoughts, expectations, and judgments of others to dictate your choices. It is choosing a career because it looks impressive, staying silent to avoid criticism, or shrinking yourself to fit into spaces that were never meant for you.
The problem with living this way is that opinions are endless. No matter what you do, someone will approve, someone will disapprove, and someone will misunderstand you completely. If your peace depends on universal approval, you will never find peace.
Many dreams die not because people lack talent, but because they fear what others will say. They trade authenticity for acceptance and freedom for validation. Over time, they become strangers to themselves.
Freedom begins when you understand that opinions are not instructions. People can have thoughts about your life without having authority over it. Their perspective may be worth considering, but it should not become your master.
The most fulfilled people are not those who are universally admired; they are those who have learned to live in alignment with their values despite criticism. They listen, learn, and grow, but they do not surrender their identity to every passing opinion.
Your life is too precious to be controlled by voices that will never live with the consequences of your decisions.
Stop asking for permission to become who you are meant to be.
Because the moment you stop being a slave to opinion, you begin to live as the author of your own story.
